Intro/Title Screen

Lakitu's intro
At the very start of the game's loading process, Lakitu is usually seen on his cloud holding a traffic light at the end of his fishing line. He occasionally has different objects at the end of the line, however. One of them is a small Cheep-Cheep (the fish), and another is a big Cheep-Cheep, one which broke Lakitu's fishing line. These are random and are a rarity.
Super Mario Kart remix
At the Title Screen, press Start once so that the the first menu is displayed (Start Game, Records, Options). When that's done, the normally-displayed game demo will not run. Wait for the tune's end, there will be a remix of a small portion of the original Super Mario Kart's title screen music.

Luigi Circuit
Signs/Ads |
Mario Racing
This has a Shine in the middle of the words 'Mario' and 'Racing'
Shoot!!
There's a red shell on this sign, apparently hinting that players should 'shoot their red shell'
MarioKart
This one has the infamous Nintendo racetrack around the two words
Nintendo
This is the traditional Nintendo racetrack logo, only it's placed inside a sign shaped like a cloud with two eyes and a smile
Super Mario
The S and O in those two words are bigger than the letters in 'uper mari'
Luigi Grand Prix
No additional information
Luigi Tires
No additional information
|
Other |
Luigi's Mansion
This is seen in the background of the level at one point. It's the white and green mansion, which can be earned in the game Luigi's Mansion by getting a very good rank
Blimp
This blimp, which casts a shadow on the ground, has the words 'Luigi Grand Prix' on it
Chain Chomp
The famous black sphere with an angry face that tries to chomp players; there's one here
|
Peach Beach
Signs/Ads |
Peach Grand Prix
This is the sign that is seen at the very beginning of the track. It also says 'Welcome' on it, reportedly welcoming players to the track
Delfino Fruits
This ad showcases some fruit and Piantas. Its purpose is to market the fruit that comes from Isle Delfino
Mario Kart
This sign simply features Toad to the left of the words 'Mario Kart'
Mario Racing
This has a Shine in the middle of the words 'Mario' and 'Racing'
|
Other |
Setting
This level is set on Isle Delfino, the setting for the game Super Mario Sunshine
Grey Statue
This statue is found in the Delfino Plaza area of Super Mario Sunshine. In this game, however, it has turned into a fountain and has been placed in a different location to where it was in Mario Sunshine
Pianta and Noki
These two creatures are two of the species found on Isle Delfino. More specifically, Piantas are from Pianta Village and Nokis are from Noki Bay. They both make funny noises (also known as speaking in their respective languages) in this Peach Beach level
Sunshine Cruiser
This is a cruise ship that is seen near the edge of a dock in the level right near the beginning. This cruiser says 'Sunshine' and has a Shine logo on it. It is later seen on the Yoshi Circuit track
Daisy Cruiser
This is another, bigger cruiser that is seen in the background of this track. Two Daisy logos, which have the words 'Princess Daisy', are seen its side. The cruiser is the actual racetrack in the Flower Cup and is also seen in the background during the ending ceremony sequence
Boxes
There are mushrooms and stars on the wooden boxes found on this track. There are also hearts, mushrooms and stars on the coloured boxes (pink, blue and yellow)
|
Baby Park
Signs/Ads |
Mario Kart
Basically a welcome sign, this one has both Baby Mario and Baby Luigi on it. The art style on this is very similar, if not entirely identical, to the style found in the SNES/GBA game known as Yoshi's Island
|
Other |
Yoshi roller coaster
This one is pretty obvious. The Yoshi roller coaster is seen riding all around this tiny racetrack. It's red and pink. Racers can actually get hit by it at one point (at the point where the roller coaster is nearly touching the track) but it's a rarity
Yoshi/Mushroom(?) merry-go-round
This is far in the background. It's blurry, but from what can be told, there are green Yoshi seats as well as Mushrooms to sit on. Due to the blur, this is not 100% confirmed as of yet
Bowser's Ship
There are two pirate ships in the background. One of them says nothing on it, and the other has a sign in front of it that says 'Bowser's Ship,' and also features an image of Baby Bowser. Considering this level's theme, Bowser's Ship is likely a ride of some sort
Kamek's Show
Located in the background, this is a castle that features a sign that says 'Kamek's Show' over its entrance. In Mario's universe, Kamek is a Koopa that can perform magic tricks that debutted in Super Mario World for the SNES. Logic tells us that this castle has a magic show being performed indoors
Poochie
There's a huge Poochie in the background. Poochie is the dog that debutted in the SNES game Yoshi's Island, was later found in Yoshi's Story and appeared as a cameo in a number of other games
Shyguys
There are a few pairs of big, red Shyguy balloons/statues to be found in the background of this course. Other than that, there's not much else to say about this appearance
Shine ferris wheel
There's a Shine sprite (a multitude of which can be found in Super Mario Sunshine and Paper Mario 2: The Thousand-Year Door) in the center of the ferris wheel in the background. The nodes that people sit in on the ride are actually shaped like clouds, each sporting eyes and a smile
Yoshi helicopter
A green helicopter with a Yoshi face in the front. There may be something written on the side of the helicopter, but if there is, it's hard to to tell what
|
Dry Dry Desert
Signs/Ads |
Super Mario Kart
This is just a sign that has the original Super Mario Kart logo on it, with a background that's reminscent of a the title screen from the SNES game
Danger!!!
This is a sign that features a Pirhana Plant, one which is apparently eating the word 'Danger!!!'. This is to warn players about the Pirhana Plant that chomps them if they were to fall into its sandy trap...even though the sign is actually positioned after the area where the trap is located. Thanks for the warning...!
Sunshine Parts
There isn't much to say besides the fact that 'Sunshine' is in reference to the game Super Mario Sunshine
|
Other |
Character Faces
The faces of Baby Mario, Bowser, Donkey Kong, Koopa Troopa, Luigi, Birdo, Peach, Wario and Mario can be found on many of the monuments in this level, most notably on the one at the start/finish line
Pirhana Plant
This one is obvious, but there's a huge Pirhana in the sand trap that players can fall into if they're not careful in their steering. Notably, while it does chomp the racers, it does not seem to chomp Lakitu. To see that, drive the 'wrong way' into the hole. Lakitu will hold the sign indicating that the player is going the wrong way and will not get chomped by our friendly Pirhana
|
Mushroom Bridge
Signs/Ads |
Mario Estates
This sign tells players about the Mario Estates. The houses themselves can often be seen on this track. They are the mushroom-shaped houses on the side and in the background of the level. The sign says 'Lots still available!' and 'Pop.256'. Now you know how many residents are in this area...
Mario Kart
This is a pretty plain sign that features are a Starman and wheels
|
Other |
Express Truck
This truck, which sports the word 'Express' and an ordinary package, hints that it's a mail delivery truck. What's interesting about it, though, is that it also features the P-Wing from Super Mario Bros. 3. Now there's a cameo appearance that is barely ever seen nowadays. In addition, the license plate on this truck reads 'SMB3,' for Super Mario Bros. 3
Star Travel bus
This blue bus has Starmen on it. It's a bus used for people to travel around. Its license plate reads 'STR,' which stands for star. Another little sign in the back reads 'STR-T,' for...well, 'Star Travel'
Peach Beach bus
This bus is simply a way to travel from one place to Peach Beach, which is a different racetrack in this game. The license plate reads 'SUN'
Bob-omb/Mushroom cars
The Bob-omb-shaped vehicles explode when they are touched, and the Mushroom-shaped ones, when touched, actually throw a Mushroom item for players to use for some free, extra speed
Wiggler bus
This is a long, green bus, shaped like Wiggler. Wiggler is a catterpillar-type enemy from the Mario series. Wiggler made its debut in the SNES game Super Mario World
Red car
A basic car, but the license plate reads 'POW', which is in reference to the infamous POW block from the Mario Bros. arcade game. The game Mario Bros. has been included in every other GBA game released to date
Peach's Castle
The big castle from Super Mario 64 is shown in the background of this level
|
Mario Circuit
Signs/Ads |
Mario Kart + Mario Hat + GCN logo
This star-shaped sign has the Mario Kart logo, Mario's hat and a GCN logo
KoopaKart
Koopa Troopa gets his own Kart game, too!
Mario Kart
It's shaped like a blue shell. It's actually 3D, not just a simple, flat sign
Shoot!!
There's a red shell on this one
Super Mushroom
Nothing else to describe
Mario Racing
This has a Shine in the middle of the words 'Mario' and 'Racing'
|
Other |
Mushroom blimp
It's a blimp shaped like a Mushroom. It casts a shadow onto the ground, and from what is apparent, it doesn't have anyone inside of it
Pirhana Plant
They're in the green pipes and try to chomp players. They are not present in Time Trial mode, though
Goombas!
These monstrosities, which made their debut in the original Super Mario Bros. game, are simply walking left and right at one point on this course, just waiting to be crashed into. Players can actually squish them, old-school style, by shooting them with a turtle shell or running into them when using a Starman item
Chain Chomp
The black sphere with an angry face is back. These friendly little creatures are always placed at the most appropriate of places, aren't they?
Peach's Castle
It's a smaller, more simple version of the castle from Super Mario 64. No, Yoshi is not on top of the castle. Yes, we actually checked.
|
Daisy Cruiser
Other |
Piantas
There are 3 Piantas near the pool, each making funny noises (also known as speaking their language)
Daisy logo
The 'Princess Daisy' logo, which is also found on the sides of the cruiser itself, is seen at the bottom of the only pool on the ship. Daisy's so full of herself.
Boxes
The same, coloured boxes that are found on Peach Beach are in the storage area of the ship. The storage area is actually a alternative cut of the track. To access it, fall through the hole that's located after the dining room
Sun reflection on windows
This isn't so much important as it is visually screwed up, but every window has the same exact sun reflection texture, complete with lens flare (reportedly Photosopped)
|
Waluigi Stadium
Signs/Ads |
Big Fire!!!
This has a Bob-omb on it. Big Fire Get!!!
Waluigi Oil
As opposed to Luigi Oil. This one has a Waluigi face on it
Wario Kart
As opposed to Mario Kart. Wretched jealous characters!
WLGP
This stands for Waluigi Grand Prix. The letter L in WLGP is upside down
Mario Kart
For some reason, Mario Kart is advertised in addition to Wario Kart. This has the infamous Nintendo racetrack around the words 'Mario' and 'Kart'
Super Mario
The S and O in those two words are bigger than the letters in 'uper mari'
|
Other |
Crowd
The audience in this stadium consists of many green, purple and red Toads, red Shyguys, Snifits (enemies from Super Mario Bros. 2), Hammer Bros., Boos, Goombas and Donkey Kong Jr.'s
Fake Pirhana Plants
Hard to miss; they pop out of fake green pipes to try and stop players from driving any further
|
Sherbet Land
Signs/Ads |
Skating Rink
This sign is on the sides of the skating rink and features Shyguys
Snowman
That's all this sign says, there is no image featured
Mario Kart + Freezie + GCN logo
Similar to the one found in the Mario Circuit level. It's shaped like a star, except this one is blue and features a Freezie instead of a Mario Hat in the middle
KoopaKart
Koopa Troopa gets his own Kart game, too!
Super Mushroom
Nothing else to describe
|
Other |
Skating Shyguys
Three blue ones and a pair of red ones are skating together. The three blue ones skate in a pre-defined path. They also jump & spin at the same pre-defined points in that path. Learn these spots and it might help in better avoiding them during a race
Snowmen
There are snowmen doing a dance of sorts outside the level's fences
Freezies
These are the icicle obstacles that are on the ice. They feature eyes and a mouth, and when they are touched, the racer becomes frozen for a certain amount of time. These originate from the original 1983 Mario Bros. arcade game, and are also found in the recent Super Smash Bros. Melee as items

Mushroom City
Signs/Ads |
Ribbon
This sign has Birdo on it, apparetly marketing the ribbon on her head
Wario Pharmacy
This is a green sign that has a medicine bottle and those two words on it. It's near the actual pharmacy...
Koopa Shop
This is a tiny, hard-to-spot sign. It says 'Koopa Shop' but there's nothing resembling a Koopa Shop in the city
GCN logo
Another tiny sign, but this one easier to spot. It's the purple GCN logo plus the words 'Nintendo GameCube'
Lakitu Park
Yet another tiny one. This one can be found over the GCN logo sign mentioned above. It's hard to read, but it features a cloud with two eyes and a smile on it (Lakitu's cloud)
Superstar!
This one has an actual star in place of the letter 'a'
(red shell)
It's just a sign with a red shell on it. It might be Mushroom City's equivalent of our stop sign, but nobody can be certain
Delfino Fruits
A small version of the Delfino Fruits sign found on other courses; this one's hard to read
Super Mushroom
Nothing else to describe
Nintendo
It's the traditional racetrack logo
|
Other |
Super Chocolate truck
This truck features a logo that's similar to the original Super Mario Bros. one, only it says Super Chocolate instead. It has sprites from the original NES game. The featured sprites are of Goombas, Koopa Troopas and Mario himself (as normal Mario). The license plate on this truck reads 'W1-1', in reference to World 1-1, the first level of the original Super Mario Bros. game
MooMoo Farm truck
This truck has those words written on each side, along with a picture of a cow from MooMoo Farm, which was a course in Mario Kart 64. The license plate reads '1UP', as in 1 free life
Mushroom Bridge trucks/busses
All of the vehicles that appeared on the Mushroom Bridge course make an appearance on this track as well
Wario Pharmacy
Strange that Wario is actually helping sick people by running his own pharmacy...although he's probably only doing it for the money anyway, the fiend.
Mushroom Bridge
The bridge from the Mushroom Bridge track in this game can be seen far in the background of this night level. Multiple Mushroom Bridges can be seen, actually
|
Yoshi Circuit
Signs/Ads |
(new) Yoshi's Egg
There isn't much to say for this one. It may be an ad for a made-up game...
Luigi Oil
As opposed to Waluigi Oil. The font looks similar to the one that was used in the Luigi's Mansion title logo
Turn Left
This one has a green Yoshi on it. It reportedly warns players to "turn left"
Ribbon
This is the same ad as the one seen in Mushroom City. It also says 'Birdo's watching!' on it
Nintendo
This is the traditional Nintendo racetrack logo, only it's placed inside a sign shaped like a cloud with two eyes and a smile
Superstar!
This one has an actual star in place of the letter 'a'
Mario Kart
This sign simply features Toad to the left of the words 'Mario Kart'
|
Other |
Daisy Cruiser
Like in Peach Beach, this ship is seen in the far background
Sunshine Cruiser
This ship, which was previously spotted on the dock of the Peach Beach level, can also be seen in the far background of this course... It's at sea this time
Yoshi helicopter
Also seen in Baby Park, a green helicopter with a Yoshi face in the front
|
Donkey Kong Mountain
Signs/Ads |
Donkey Cannon
This sign points to the huge cannon in this level, it can't be missed
Super Mario
This sign is hidden behind some plants, which can make it hard to spot. The S and O in those two words are bigger than the letters in 'uper mari'
Wario Racing
Not much to describe other than that it's also hidden behind plants
|
Other |
Birds!
While players are in the air after being shot from the huge cannon, flock of birds flying in the air can be seen. From what could be told, these are not from a previous game (not a cameo)
|
Wario Stadium
Signs/Ads |
Koopa Sport
There is nothing notable about this one
Super Wario
The S and O in those two words are bigger than the letters in 'uper wari'. Plagiarism on Wario's part!
Super Wario
This one is just plain
Wario Kart
The infamous racetrack is present around the two words
Wario Kart
This one simply doesn't have the racetrack around it
Wario Grand Prix
Not much to say about this...it's just Wario trying to steal the spotlight again
|
Dino Dino Jungle
Signs/Ads |
Super Mario GP
A nice little sign that says exactly that
Super Mario
The S and O in those two words are bigger than the letters in 'uper mari'
Sunshine Parts
There isn't much to say besides the fact that 'Sunshine' is in reference to the game Super Mario Sunshine
|
Other |
Setting
This isn't confirmed, but it makes sense. Although this level doesn't seem to be based on any level from a previous Mario game, we believe that it's Dorrie's homeplace. Dorrie is the dinosaur found in the game Super Mario 64, the one in the Hazy Maze Cave level that helps Mario reach higher platforms above the water.
|
Bowser's Castle
Other
|
Bowser's laughter
This isn't visual, but aural. It's a sound that Bowser makes. He laughs in an evil manner whenever your racer gets hurt. Fall off the course, get squished by a Twomp or get hit by one of the giant fireballs to hear this
Bowser's face
The Koopa King's face is seen on some of the walls in the level
Baby Bowser's face
Baby Bowser's face is seen on the walls in the room with the huge, spinning fireballs
Twomps
These enemies are the blocks that hover in the air and crash down onto the ground in full force. If a player happens to be below them when they fall, they get squished. These infamous enemies are from many Mario games
|
Rainbow Road
Other |
Colourful hovering things. . .
These colourful objects can be seen floating all around the level. There are shapes of the following: a Bob-omb, a Starman, a Yoshi Egg, a Mushroom, a Banana Peel and red, green & blue/spikey turtle shells. These are all trademark items from the Mario universe
